happy trails

I’m done with week one of the C25K program – woot!  David, Daisy and I hit the trails at Pony Pasture first thing this morning for my last installment for the week.  The day started out chilly and sprinkling but the canopy of trees protected us from any real dampness.    It was a nice change from run/walking on hard surfaces and negotiating intersections through the neighborhood.  Daisy was in dog heaven, running off-leash with her ears flapping and a big stupid dog grin on her face every time she ran through the mud.

In preparation for this training session, I downloaded Robert Ullrey’s Week One podcast for running.  I was looking forward to trying it out but decided against it at the last minute since (a) it was starting to rain and (b) I wanted to enjoy the trail and my peeps.  So it was back to my watch / chronometer which worked out really well.

On the way home we stopped at Crossroads Coffee and Ice Cream where we had neither coffee nor ice cream.  But we did have some juice and egg sandwiches.  Yum.

And now I need a nap.  And maybe some quality time with a good book.

  1. congrats on the week one!
is that gum on your shoe?

  2. Thanks! That white thing on the bottom of my shoe is a petal or leaf or pod – something organic – that the trees have been shedding around here. I really should learn more about Virginia horticulture.

  3. Congratulations on Week 1! Couch-to-5K worked for me, I was amazed. It got difficult for me after Week 3, as I was/am more chunky than you & your sisters. I am less chunky now though 🙂 I will check out that podcast you mentioned. Good luck on Week 2!

    • Thanks! It’s great to check one off of the list. I am trying not to think too far ahead because I think I will start to get nervous about the longer distances and running out of breath. Congrats on finishing. : )

  4. Very cool plan you sisters have cooking. I am also in Virginia, nearish to DC. I started my blog specifically for C25K, and graduated about a month ago. Still going! I hope you enjoy the program and good luck.
