This is Daisy, our one year old, 90 pound mastiff mix knucklehead. She’s a really great stick-chewer. She’s still learning how to be a good running partner. She likes to stop and smell the flowers. Frequently.
Today Daisy and I got up at 5:30 to start the Couch to 5K program together. There were a few challenges.
First, it was 5:30 and we were both bleary-eyed. The five minute warm up walk stretched to 10 minutes – Daisy needed a little more time. ‘Nuff said.
Second, my sports watch needs new batteries so I had to count the seconds in my head. I kept counting in time to my footsteps which may or may not have been spaced .5 seconds apart. I tried to detach my counting from my footsteps but it felt like trying to pat your head and rub your tummy at the same time. Also, I kept losing track of my count when Daisy (and then I) got distracted.
Third, Daisy gets distracted easily. You do the math.
We both have some work to do.
